The Communist Front (Italy) denounces and condemns the provocations, plans and interference of US and European imperialism against socialist Cuba and its people.
The anti-communist demonstrations, arranged by counter-revolutionary petty-bourgeois and lumpen elements under the evident direction of Washington and the Miami mafia in some Cuban cities, are part of the strategy, reconfirmed in particular by Biden’s administration, of destabilization and subversion in the countries that do not submit to the imperialist diktat. Taking advantage of the difficult economic situation, which they themselves created by means of the criminal economic blockade lasting for over 60 years, worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic, the imperialists try to create the conditions for a “humanitarian intervention”, that is for a military aggression aiming at overthrowing the socialist course and destroy its achievements. The bourgeois media and press, as usual, do their utmost in their work of lies and disinformation, spreading misleading falsehoods in order to manipulate international public opinion, but they will not succeed in their intent. The peoples now have wide experience of the mechanisms and pretexts that are used to justify interference and interventions, whose real purposes have nothing “humanitarian”, but pursue the interests of capitalist monopolies and financial oligarchies.
We are equally well aware of the internationalist solidarity that Cuba has shown to the Italian people by sending dozens of Cuban doctors, nurses and health workers from the Henry Reeve Brigade to help tackle the pandemic in the darkest moment of the collapse of our healthcare system.
Despite the blockade, Cuba managed, during the pandemic, to develop 5 vaccines and protect the health and conditions of the people better than the capitalist countries did. Doctors, nurses and health personnel from the Henry Reeve Medical Brigades have been involved in the fight against Covid-19 in 40 countries, making an important contribution to saving thousands of lives and treating several hundred thousand people, an activity that earned them the candidacy, which we fully support, to the Nobel Peace Prize. The values of the Cuban Socialist Revolution continue to enlighten the peoples of the world with such lofty examples of humanity, while the bounds of capitalism and imperialist competition result in the loss of countless lives.
Socialism is not the cause of the Cuban people’s problems. On the contrary, the difficulties are caused by the inhumane economic blockade imposed by the US for over 60 years and by the 242 additional measures, including the infamous Helms-Burton law, taken by Trump’s administration and enhanced by Biden’s even in the pandemic context. This makes even pettier the provocative moves of the US, which have not been able to protect even their own population from the virus, causing thousands of preventable deaths, but are trying to exploit the problems created by themselves and the pandemic to attack and increase the pressure on Cuba in order to overthrow its legitimate political, social and economic order.
The broad and immediate mobilization of the workers and people of Cuba, who promptly responded to the Communist Party’s call to take to the streets and squares to defend the Revolution, proves that the steadfastness of the revolutionary spirit of the Cuban popular masses will once again allow to reject counter-revolutionary attempts and to positively resolve current problems, as already demonstrated in the countless challenges faced and overcome in the course of the construction of socialism.
Socialist Cuba represents a great example of internationalist solidarity, a reference point for humanity, progress and social justice. Its achievements are a source of inspiration for the workers and communists all over the world who will always be at its side in fighting imperialist plans.
We express our internationalist solidarity with the Cuban working class and people, the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and its socialist government. We are united with them in defending the Revolution, socialism and its conquests against any slander, interference and imperialist intervention by the US and the EU. Internationalist proletarian solidarity is, for us, an indispensable component of the class struggle, both national and world-wide: the victory of Cuban socialism brings the victory of socialism in Italy closer.
