To the Presidium and Delegates of the 6th Congress of the Party of Labor of Austria (PdA)
Dear comrades,
the Political Bureau of the CC, on behalf of the Central Committee and all the militants of the Communist Front (Italy), sends a fraternal greeting to the Presidium and Delegates of the 6th Congress of the Party of Labor of Austria (PdA).
The challenges we are facing due to the current capitalist crisis require a greater effort to analyze, basing on the Marxist-Leninist scientific method, the systemic contradictions in order to precisely identify the mechanisms with which they operate, as well as a greater capacity for mobilization in order to use them to the advantage of the working class and create the objective and subjective conditions for a revolutionary outcome.
The worsening of the general crisis of capitalism and the deepening of its incurable contradictions have intensified the battle between the old powers in decline and the new emerging powers which, under the slogan of “multipolarity”, demand a new division of the world, a new world order no longer based on the hegemony of the USA and the dollar, but equally imperialist, since it does not question the capitalist nature of the existing mode of production. All the wars we are witnessing are part of the fight between China and the USA for supremacy in the capitalist world, between BRICS countries and G7 countries for economic primacy. Supremacy in the imperialist system, not just the division of that country’s resources, is the real issue at stake in the war in Ukraine too.
After all, war is endemic to capitalism in its highest and final stage and is the maximum expression of competition between monopolies and between capitalist states for the control of markets, the planet’s natural and human resources, logistical hubs and trade routes. It is not possible to separate the tendency towards war from the very nature of capitalism, nor is it possible to insure a just, steady and lasting peace without the revolutionary overthrow of capitalism and bourgeois power. Under dominant imperialism, “diplomatic solutions to conflicts” and “peace agreements” are just temporary and a prelude to new wars, nor can there be a “just peace”, since imperialist peace means class oppression, inequality and exploitation. The anti-imperialist movement fighting for peace, therefore, can only be anti-capitalist and have the working class and its vanguard, the communists, at its center.
War is one of the ways in which capitalism tries to get out of its own crisis, a crisis whose consequences are not uniformly distributed throughout society, but in a differentiated and unequal way between social classes. While entire sectors of capital, not only those linked to the production of armaments, increase their profits through war, the proletarians, in addition to being physically massacred in a fratricidal clash on the battlefields, are also socially massacred outside of them, since they suffer all the effects of the capitalist crisis, aggravated by war. The crisis today manifests itself in the form of inflation accompanied by stagnation which risks turning into a recession due to both the self-defeating anti-Russian sanctions and the anti-inflation policies of the EU and the ECB. Ultimately, crisis and anti-crisis measures both affect the proletariat. Furthermore, we must not forget that to finance the Ukrainian fascist regime and to protect imperialist and Zionist interests in the Red Sea, becoming complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people, bourgeois governments steal tens of billions euros from public healthcare, education, social services and the primary needs of workers. This is not a “management” issue, attributable to the anyway demonstrated ineptitude of the bourgeois ruling groups of the USA, the EU and the countries that are part of it, and therefore resolvable by a simple change of government, but it is a structural issue that can be resolved only by the overthrow of capitalism, the destruction of the bourgeois state and its replacement with the proletarian state.
Bourgeois propaganda and opportunists are spreading false hopes about the reformability of the European Union and the possibility of a “peaceful multipolar world”, governed by international law. These are highly dangerous illusions, which are trying to spread the deceptive perception that peace and justice can be achieved in conditions of imperialism, that a “good and human-faced” capitalism can exist, that international law is today something different from illegitimate law of the strongest. Being a concentration of political forces that seek to “beautify” or to “green” capitalism in order to administer it by participating in bourgeois governments, the opportunists from the Party of the European Left stand out in this type of harmful activity. The bankruptcy of these new forms of social-democracy, certified by the failing experiences of the Bloco de Esquerda in Portugal, of Syriza in Greece, of Unidas Podemos and the PCE in Spain, delivers the working class and the popular strata to the mercy of capital and opens the doors to reaction. Like you, dear comrades, we believe that in fact capitalism and imperialist alliances such as the EU cannot be reformed due to their very nature basing on inequalities and exploitation, but they can and must be overthrown by the proletarian and socialist revolution.
We believe that the founding of the European Communist Action was an important step forward in this direction, which sees us united with your and other sister parties in the common effort of establishing a coordinated collaboration on a shared ideological-political basis, such as the judgment on the class nature of the EU, Russia and China, the scientific definition and analysis of imperialism in the current phase, the reference to scientific socialism and Marxism-Leninism, the positive evaluation of the experience of the October Revolution, the USSR and socialism achieved in the 20th century, the rejection of “market socialism” and “21st century socialism”, the firm opposition to old and new social democracy and opportunism, the fight against all forms of nationalism, racism, xenophobia and fascism, the conception of socialism as the only solution to the climate crisis. We are sure that our forces, united in the ECA, will be able to give a new boost to the struggle against imperialism in general, against the EU and NATO in particular, for the exit of our countries from these and any imperialist alliance, for socialism-communism. The intensification and prospects for success of the class struggle in our countries are closely linked to the strengthening of our Parties in each individual country, but this strengthening is in turn connected to the development of the ECA as a center for aggregation and coordination of communist and workers parties on a truly revolutionary basis.
Like your Party, our Party too is making a political and organizational effort to be up to the tasks and challenges the capitalist crisis is putting in front of us, to increase mutual collaboration with the sister communist parties, within the ECA and outside it, in a spirit of sincere and militant proletarian internationalism, to identify together the most effective strategies and tactics to achieve our historical goals.
With the will to strengthen the bond between our two Parties, we wish you, dear comrades, a fruitful course of your 6th congress and success in the common struggle for the cause of the socialist revolution and the emancipation of the proletariat.
LONG LIVE SOCIALISM-COMMUNISM!
