ON MARCH 13, THE COMMUNIST FRONT (ITALY), THE COMMUNIST YOUTH FRONT AND THE CLASS TRADE UNION SI. COBAS ORGANIZED A MASS DEMONSTRATION OF WORKERS AND STUDENTS IN PIACENZA AGAINST THE VIOLENCE OF THE BOURGEOIS STATE AND THE ARROGANCE OF CAPITALISTS
The bourgeois state represses by violence and intimidation the just struggle of workers who demand greater rights and compliance with health standards in workplaces.
In the city of Prato, at the company Texprint, the police brutally beat workers who were on strike for several days for an 8-hour day, 5 days a week, while today they are inhumanly forced to work more than 12-hour shifts without days off.
In Piacenza, the workers of TNT-FedEx, after a 13-day strike against the company’s management plan to lay off more than 300 people, which ended in a successful agreement with the company, became the object of revenge by repressive and judicial state authorities: house searches at dawn, seizures of computers, cell phones and other materials, a fine of 13,200 euros, bans on residence, expulsions, cancellation of residence permits of foreign workers and the arrest of 2 labor union activists.
These are extremely serious events. To the just struggle of the workers for the protection of their jobs, the safety and health in their workplaces, the improvement of their bargaining agreement conditions and against inhuman exploitation, capitalists respond with repression, violence, and intimidation as a warning to all the working people of our country. When the moratorium on dismissals ends and the matter comes to a showdown, those who do not bow their heads and try to resist will face, in addition to capitalists’ arrogance, police terrorism and judicial repression.
To the capitalist attack on all workers, the unemployed, women, young and retired people, we must respond compactly and decisively, without retreating before provocations and intimidation. We must oppose the front of the bourgeoisie by a united class front that unites the struggles of all the working people. We will not pay for the capitalist crisis! Repression will not stop us!
