The Communist Front (Italy) condemns the brutal repression unleashed by the Colombian bourgeois state and the criminal government led by Iván Duque against the working masses who have been continuously mobilized since 28 April against a series of anti-worker and anti-people reforms (tax, health and pension).
These reforms, together with the anti-people and repressive policies promoted by the government, aim to put the weight of the economic and health crisis on the shoulders of the working class in order to safeguard the interests and profits of the Colombian oligarchy, of monopolies and multinationals. Under the pressure of mass protests, the tax reform was temporarily withdrawn while it was already under discussion in parliament. While this is to be regarded as a government move to relieve popular pressure, it is still a further demonstration of how only through class struggle can victories and advances be achieved.
At the time of publishing, at least 23 demonstrators were killed by police and army firing on protesters, more than 800 were injured, more than 700 were arrested, several instances sexual violence against women by the police were reported and dozens disappeared since the beginning of mobilizations, which are continuing. All this is adds to the disastrous capitalist management of the pandemic, which is causing 500 deaths a day, to the criminalization of social struggles and the persecution of Communist organizations, to the systematic physical elimination of social activists, trade unionists, political militants and former guerrillas, which most clearly represents the betrayal of the Havana Peace Agreement by the Colombian Government and the bourgeois state.
Today more than ever, it is necessary to amplify in every corner of the world the cry of rebellion that has been rising for decades from the streets and mountains of Colombia. The Colombian people’s struggle is an example for all proletarians in the world who are engaged in the common struggle against capitalist exploitation, state repression, anti-people and anti-worker policies of governments that everywhere are tryin once again to make the people and the working class pay for the capitalist crisis.
It is no coincidence that we are witnessing the shameful and complicit silence of the Italian bourgeois government, who, sides with the criminal anti-people regime in Colombia, a NATO partner and an outpost of the US-EU-NATO imperialist plans in South America.
We express our internationalist solidarity with the working class, poor peasants and working masses in Colombia, with the communist and class trade-union vanguards, with the Colombian Clandestine Communist Party (PCCC) and the reorganized guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed forces of Colombia – people’s Army (FARC-EP Segunda Marquetalia), who struggle to overthrow the criminal oligarchic-bourgeois regime and pave the way for a free and socialist New Colombia.
Stop the massacre of the Colombian working class!
Long live the Colombian national strike!
Proletarians of all countries, unite!
